REINVENTING
THE SCREAM QUEEN

13 MINUTES OF HORROR WAS CONCEIVED BY NYX HORROR COLLECTIVE TO SPOTLIGHT WOMAN-IDENTIFYING FILMMAKERS IN THE HORROR GENRE.

In an industry which claims to have made a lot of progress in terms of diversity, the horror space remains largely a boys' club, with white men receiving the bulk of writing and directing opportunities, especially for mainstream, big-budget horror projects. The assumption that women “just aren’t into horror” is still the norm, even if it isn’t (and never was) true.

13 Minutes challenges this assumption, offering women horror filmmakers from around the world exposure for their projects and accessibility to resources, free of charge. Together with creators and our partners, we’re looking to redefine the horror industry and women’s roles within it.

A SISTERHOOD OF HORROR CREATORS

Graphic Background_001.jpg

Nyx Horror Collective is a community of diverse woman-identifying horror creators, inclusive of BIWOC, LGBTQ+ women, disabled women, femmes, and nonbinary folx. Our mission is to celebrate and elevate original women-led horror content. Members are drawn from across the industry, transforming the genre through stories that explore race, gender, mental and chronic illness, body image and more. Like the goddess who serves as our namesake, we do not fear the darkness, but embrace it, recognizing that we cannot know the light without first knowing the dark ... Come explore the shadows with us.
