13 Minutes of Horror is a film festival for women horror filmmakers, inclusive of BIWOC, LGBTQ+ women, disabled women, and non-binary creators. Several films will be featured between August 13 - 15, including thirteen official selections.
We recognize that, now more than ever, the micro-short is far more likely to be watched in full and shared by online audiences, growing viewership, exposure and opportunity for creators. With that in mind, we have structured our festival as a FREE 60-second film challenge, granting women the liberty and accessibility to showcase their talent.
Our inaugural theme is FOLKLORE. Filmmakers may pull from myths, fables, campfire stories, ghost stories, urban legends, folktales, and even family histories or personal experiences with the supernatural or paranormal. This does not mean that your film has to be based on a specific myth, legend etc. The goal is to find inspiration from these stories and experiences to create your own original piece.
OUR INAUGURAL JUDGES PANEL FEATURES SOME OF THE TOP WOMEN WORKING IN THE HORROR INDUSTRY TODAY. COVERING DIVERSE BACKGROUNDS AND EXPERIENCES WITHIN FILM AND TELEVISION, THESE REVOLUTIONARIES AIM TO DISCOVER THE NEXT GENERATION OF WOMEN HORROR FILMMAKERS.
