13 Minutes of Horror is a film festival for women horror filmmakers, inclusive of BIWOC, LGBTQ+ women, disabled women, and non-binary creators.

We recognize that, now more than ever, the micro-short is far more likely to be watched in full and shared by online audiences, growing viewership, exposure and opportunity for creators. With that in mind, we have structured our festival as a FREE 60-second film challenge, granting women the liberty and accessibility to showcase their talent.

Our 2022 theme is SCI-FI HORROR.

A subgenre of science fiction and horror, sci-fi horror often revolves around subjects that include but are not limited to alien invasions, mad scientists, and/or experiments gone wrong! Sci-fi engages the imagination based on science while horror instills fear to examine humanity and social issues.

Filmmakers may pull from space travel, time travel, telepathy, telekinesis, parallel universes, utopias/dystopias, or technology/man made horrors to name but a few. All submissions should contain a strong horror element up front, however.

For more inspiration and insights into this fun subgenre, we recommend
